Wayside is once again collecting shoeboxes filled with gifts to be delivered by Samaritan’s Purse to children around the world. Empty shoeboxes and literature are available in the church lobby. You can also pick up a shoebox at the church front office, Monday – Friday, from 9:00 am – 4:30 pm. Boxes are to be returned by Sunday, November 19th.
You can donate thru Wayside giving as a special offering for OCC, and we will pack a shoebox for you.
Also, Wayside has an online build-a-box site. For a donation of $25.00 (which includes shipping), you choose the items to include in the shoebox. Below is a link on how you can build a shoebox online.
Please pray about how God can use you to bless others during this Christmas season.
I was blessed to be raised in a Christian home. My parents taught me Bible stories; took me to church; but most importantly, they set the example from my childhood on, by actually living the surrendered Christian life. While I was still a child, I started to realize that my parents had a very special relationship with God.
At the age of eight, I asked Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. I then began to pray, asking the Lord what He would have me do with my life. While I was still a student at Samford University, God responded by planting in my heart the desire to spread the Good News that His Son, Jesus Christ, died for the sins of all, so that we could be saved from our sins. The Lord also helped me to understand that each Christian must have a growing walk with, and the knowledge, of our Redeemer, Jesus Christ.
Upon graduating from Samford University, I began to realize that God was calling me to serve as a Minister of the Gospel. I finally surrendered my life in obedience to the Lord’s call, in the year of 1992.
It is my conviction, that each church is called to share the Gospel with its community and to help its members grow closer to the Lord each day. The Church that accomplishes this mission will do so by developing its members into Godly leadership; fully understanding that they have been called to serve on mission with the Lord Jesus Christ.
If you are interested in joining Wayside as a church member or would like to learn more about us, please sign-up for the New Members/Connection Classes being held on Sunday, June 5th and Sunday, June 12th by emailing info@waysidemiami.org. You can also contact Angela in the church office at 305.595.6550. After you sign-up, additional information about the class will be provided to you.
We are commemorating Good Friday with services in English and Spanish on Friday, April 15th, at 7:00 p.m., where we will observe the Lord’s Supper. English service will be held in the main worship center and Spanish in the Chapel.
Bring the whole family and join us for a fun, outdoor Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 16th, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. You will find us on Wayside field ( west side of our campus). The Easter egg hunt is for pre-school to elementary age children. Be sure to bring a bag or basket to collect your eggs!
On Easter Sunday, April 16th, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. Our English service is at 11:00 a.m. in the main worship center, and our Spanish service is also at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel. Childcare and children’s worship will be available, as well.
Wayside Baptist Church will have one combined service on Sunday, March 13th, 11:00 a.m., which will bring together our English-speaking, Spanish, Haitian and Brazilian congregations. Bible fellowship groups and childcare will not be available on that morning. The annual church picnic will immediately follow the Wayside One service on Sunday, March 13th, on our campus on the West Field. Everyone is invited.

Readings for the Christmas Holiday
Reading the Bible is a Christian discipline that will strengthen your faith and encourage your heart. The following passages are a list of Bible readings about the Christmas story. Our family reads the Luke 2 story about the shepherds together on Christmas morning before we open presents together. You will find a blessing this Christmas if you take the time to read these stories about the birth of Jesus during the Christmas holiday.
If you do not have a Bible, please call the church office and we will give you one. If you have a smart phone you can download a Bible app to your phone.
If you do not know where to find these readings in the Bible, every Bible and every Bible App will have a table of contents that is divided between the old and New Testament. All four of these readings are in the New Testament. Look first for the name of the book. The first number represents the chapter and the numbers after the colon are the verse numbers.
Reading 1 – The call of Mary Luke 1: 26 – 45
Reading 2 – The call of Joseph Matthew 1: 18 – 25
Reading 3 – The call of the Wisemen Matthew 2: 1 – 12
Reading 4 – The call of the Shepherds Luke 2: 1 – 21
None of these readings will take longer than 10 to 15 minutes.
May God bless the time you spend reading the Bible this Christmas.
In Christ,
Pastor David

The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God’s revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy. It reveals the principles by which God judges us, and therefore is, and will remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried. All Scripture is a testimony to Christ, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation.
There is one and only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. God is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future, including the future decisions of His free creatures. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.
God as Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow of the stream of human history according to the purposes of His grace. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise. God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ. He is fatherly in His attitude toward all men.
Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of God, taking upon Himself human nature with its demands and necessities and identifying Himself completely with mankind yet without sin. He honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and in His substitutionary death on the cross He made provision for the redemption of men from sin. He was raised from the dead with a glorified body and appeared to His disciples as the person who was with them before His crucifixion. He ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He is the One Mediator, fully God, fully man, in whose Person is effected the reconciliation between God and man. He will return in power and glory to judge the world and to consummate His redemptive mission. He now dwells in all believers as the living and ever present Lord.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He inspired holy men of old to write the Scriptures. Through illumination He enables men to understand truth. He exalts Christ. He convicts men of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He calls men to the Savior, and effects regeneration. At the moment of regeneration He baptizes every believer into the Body of Christ. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and bestows the spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church. He seals the believer unto the day of final redemption. His presence in the Christian is the guarantee that God will bring the believer into the fullness of the stature of Christ. He enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service.
Man is the special creation of God, made in His own image. He created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation. The gift of gender is thus part of the goodness of God’s creation. In the beginning man was innocent of sin and was endowed by his Creator with freedom of choice. By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Through the temptation of Satan man transgressed the command of God, and fell from his original innocence whereby his posterity inherit a nature and an environment inclined toward sin. Therefore, as soon as they are capable of moral action, they become transgressors and are under condemnation. Only the grace of God can bring man into His holy fellowship and enable man to fulfill the creative purpose of God. The sacredness of human personality is evident in that God created man in His own image, and in that Christ died for man; therefore, every person of every race possesses full dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love.
Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. In its broadest sense salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.
A New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel; observing the two ordinances of Christ, governed by His laws, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word, and seeking to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth. Each congregation operates under the Lordship of Christ through democratic processes. In such a congregation each member is responsible and accountable to Christ as Lord. Its scriptural officers are pastors and deacons. While both men and women are gifted for service in the church, the office of pastor is limited to men as qualified by Scripture.
The New Testament speaks also of the church as the Body of Christ which includes all of the redeemed of all the ages, believers from every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation.
